Happy Wishing Well~ness Wednesday, beautiful people!  Here's your riddle of the day: What is odorless, tasteless, invisible, and oh-so-good for us???  For those of you who guessed negative ions, you are correct!  Congratulations!  You are all the proud recipients of interesting information!

Where do we find these negative ions?  We encounter them at rushing waterfalls, crashing waves at the beach, flowing mountain streams, in nature after a storm, and even in your shower!  Negative ions tend to be generated by moving water.

The tricky thing to wrap your mind around is that these negative ions are actually super positive for us.  They create a biochemical reaction in the brain which boosts our levels of serotonin.  Serotonin is a neurotransmitter aka mood chemical that makes us feel happy and gives us that feeling of well-being.  Love me some of that serotonin!  This natural, joyous state of mind helps alleviate depression and stress, as well as providing us a little kick in the pants in the energy department.  What happens is that the negative ions increase the flow of oxygen to the brain which equates to heightened alertness and diminished tiredness and fatigue; therefore, creating more mental stamina.

A few other benefits to negative ions are their ability to help us recover from physical fatigue.  Also, they play a role in purifying the blood, increasing metabolism, strengthening the immune system, balancing the nervous system, enhancing digestion, and aiding in the rejuvenation of cells.

So, my lovelies, go hit the beach or take a mountain hike and seek out these powerful negative ions.  If these are not options for you, invest in a salt lamp.  Salt lamps are natural ion generators that emit negative ions into the atmosphere.  In addition to performing their task at hand, they brighten a room beautifully.  If this is still not the route that you are able to take in order to receive the benefits of negative ions, jump in a shower and rub-a-dub-dub.

Wishing you all the best of health and happiness,

                                                                                                          Stacy xoxo
